Come, O Holy Spirit:
enlighten my understanding
to know your commands;
strengthen my heart
against the wiles of the enemy; inflame my will...
I have heard your voice,
and I don't want to harden my heart to resisting,
by saying 'later... tomorrow.'
Nunc coepi! Now!
Lest there be no tomorrow for me!
O, Spirit of truth and wisdom,
Spirit of understanding and counsel,
Spirit of joy and peace!
I want what you want,
I want it because you want it,
I want it as you want it,
I want it when you want it.
- ST. JOSEMARIA
On October 17th, we will be hosting our 2015 Fall Conference: "Raising Children in a Christian Home." To tell us more about the upcoming conference we prepared a Q&A with Elia Rivera, Executive Director of the St. Josemaria Institute.
From September to November 2015 the major relics of St. Maria Goretti will make a pilgrimage to the United States. Named the "Pilgrimage of Mercy," it is the first time that her body travels to the USA.
Pope Francis just wrapped up his whirlwind visit to Washington, D.C., New York City, and Philadelphia. In case you missed some of the the action, here are all of the highlights from the Holy Father's trip.
Whether you will be traveling to see Pope Francis during his visit to DC, New York and Philadelphia, or if you will be accompanying him spiritually from your home, we should welcome him with joyful and peaceful hearts.
The St. Josemaria Institute invites you to join us on Saturday, October 17, 2015 for our 2015 Fall Conference: "Raising Children in a Christian Home."
The St. Josemaria Institute is a non-profit organization located near Chicago dedicated to promoting the life and teachings of St Josemaria Escriva. We are currently accepting applications for a Director of Development.
These meditations are meant to help you to set apart time from your daily routine to listen peacefully, to pray about the inspirations you receive from the meditation, and to examine your life in the presence of Jesus Christ: to see what is going well, to see what needs to change, to give thanks, and to make resolutions.
St Josemaria Escriva teaches us that:
“Our whole day can be a time for prayer — from night to morning and from morning to night. In fact, as Holy Scripture reminds us, even our sleep should be a prayer… But prayer, our life-giving nourishment, is not limited to one form alone. Our life of prayer should also be based on some moments that are dedicated exclusively to our conversation with God…
"This heart-to-heart dialogue with God is mental prayer, in which the whole soul takes part; intelligence, imagination, memory and will are all involved. It is a meditation that helps to give supernatural value to our poor human life, with all its normal, everyday occurrences. Thanks to these moments of meditation and to our vocal prayer and aspirations, we will be able to turn our whole day into a continuous praise of God… Just as people in love are always thinking about each other, we will be aware of God's presence. And all our actions, down to the most insignificant, will be filled with spiritual effectiveness” (Christ is Passing By, no. 119).
TIPS FOR LISTENING TO THE MEDITATIONS:
CARE FOR THE SICK AND THE HOMEBOUND
Often times when we visit the sick or the homebound— family, friends, or neighbors— we are not sure what to do for them, how to comfort them, or even what to talk about. But we know that we want to show them our love and bring them peace and joy. Here are a few tips that we hope can help:

2015 NOVENA FOR A HAPPY & FAITHFUL MARRIAGE
“Those who are called to the married state will, with the grace of God, find within their state everything they need to be holy, to identify themselves each day more with Jesus Christ, and to lead those with whom they live to God" (Conversations with Saint Josemaria Escriva, no. 91).
On this feast day of St Josemaria (June 26th), we give thanks to God for all the favors that he has obtained for us—the big and the small, the ordinary and the extraordinary—that have impacted our lives and the lives of everyone around us.
During the nine days leading up to the liturgical feast of St Josemaria Escriva (June 26th), we will be sharing with you a daily reflection and prayer for families.
