“It is impossible to evaluate the help we receive from a loyal and sincere friend or the influence of a good mother over her family.”
- St. Josemaria Escriva
Conversations, 31
“There are many souls all around us, and we have no right to be an obstacle to their eternal happiness. We have the obligation of leading a fully Christian life, of becoming saints, of not betraying God and all those who expect a Christian to be an example and a source of truth.”
St. Josemaria Escriva
(Christ is Passing By, 124)

“Invoke the Blessed Virgin. Keep asking her to show herself a Mother to you — monstra te esse Matrem! As well as drawing down her Son’s grace, may she bring the clarity of sound doctrine to your mind, and love and purity to your heart, so that you may know the way to God and take many souls to him.”
St. Josemaria Escriva
(The Forge, 986)
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the canonization of St. Josemaria Escriva on October 6, 2002. This year also marks the opening of the Year of Faith proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI.
The celebration of the life and feast day of St. Josemaria Escriva on June 26th is a perfect opportunity to spiritually prepare for these special events as well as to reignite and deepen our faith.
The Board and Staff of the St. Josemaria Institute wish you, your family, and friends a joyous and blessed Easter! May your hearts rejoice today and always!

"It may seem surprising that a little thing like some footprints in the snow was enough to make a teenager take the great decision to give his life to God. But that is the language God often uses to call people, and that is how generous souls who seek God sincerely are capable of responding, with faith."
“The whole Church recognizes St Joseph as a patron and guardian. For centuries many different features of his life have caught the attention of believers. He was a man ever faithful to the mission God gave him.”
St. Josemaria Escriva
Christ is Passing By, 39-40
'Forgiveness. To forgive with one’s whole heart and with no trace of a grudge will always be a wonderfully fruitful disposition to have! —That was Christ’s attitude on being nailed to the Cross: “Father, forgive them, they know not what they are doing.” From this came your salvation and mine.’
-St. Josemaria Escriva
Furrow, 805

According to St. Josemaria Escriva and Pope Benedict XVI (respectively), “Christianity is not an easy way of life”, but we are called “to aim at the high standard of ordinary Christian living”.
So how do we manage? We can begin (again) by renewing our faith, hope and love, especially during this holy season of Lent.
On February 14, we remember two important events from the life of St. Josemaria Escriva—the day God showed him that women and priests would also be members in Opus Dei, the institution that he founded.
“Two topics of capital importance: the women and the priests.”
- St. Josemaria Escriva
The Founder of Opus Dei, vol. II; 420
