Today is the feast of Our Lady of Mercy (September 24).

Among other places, she is the patroness of Barcelona where great festivities are held each year. The title of Our Lady of Mercy came to hold a special place in St. Josemaria’s memory and heart. He made a habit of visiting the Basilica of Our Lady of Mercy to seek her protection and intercession—a tradition continued by his successors and spiritual children in Opus Dei.
