Feast of St. Nicholas: “Trust in God’s Providence”

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

On December 6th we celebrate the feast of St. Nicholas of Bari. Like many today, St. Josemaria Escriva had a trusting devotion to the patron saint of financial difficulties and the saint of marrying the unmarriageble. The saint’s holy life reminds us that our personal generosity is possible because God never denies us what we need to serve Him, especially in the needs of others: the poor, hungry, oppressed, sick, suffering, lonely and all souls who are searching for meaning in their lives.

“Let me assure you, it’s something which I have touched with my own hands and seen with my own eyes, that, if you trust in God’s Providence, if you abandon yourselves in his all-powerful arms, you will never lack the means to serve God, his Holy Church and the souls of men; and this without having to neglect any of your duties. You will then rejoice in the joy and peace which…possessing all the goods of the world cannot give” (St. Josemaria Escriva; Friends of God, no. 117).

The St. Josemaria Institute is grateful to God’s providence which is demonstrated daily in the generous offerings of our friends and benefactors. We are happy to know that we are making a difference in your lives, especially in those small ways when we hear from you that: you’ve listened to a podcast in the car and it transformed your commute, you’ve read an article that helped resolve a personal doubt, you’ve found peace through the prayer of intercession of St. Josemaria or a novena, etc.

This is why we are here and hope to be here for you for the years to come!

As we look forward to Christmas and to a New Year 2019, we would like to ask you for a one-time gift today, especially if you’ve never given before to the St. Josemaria Institute. If each of our subscribers, like you, makes a one-time $20 gift today we would cover 100% of our 2019 operating and programming costs. It would help assure that we can continue to bring you the articles, podcasts, and resources that you’ve come to enjoy and share with your family and friends.

Thank you so much for your gift. We wish you a happy feast of St. Nicholas and blessed Advent!
