For St. Josemaria Escriva, study was never simply

For St. Josemaria Escriva, study was never simply about acquiring knowledge or achieving success. It was part of the Christian’s vocation to sanctify ordinary life and grow in love for God.
He encouraged students and professionals alike to work with diligence, pursue excellence, and develop their talents, but always with the proper order: our intellectual formation must serve our formation as children of God.
“It is good to see you put such determination into your study provided, of course, you put the same determination into acquiring interior life.”
-St. Josemaria Escriva, The Way, no. 341
We can become highly educated, skilled, and accomplished, but the most important work we undertake is the work God desires to accomplish within us.
