Companions in Surrender: Saint Joseph, Spouse of the Mother of God

The gospel appointed for the Solemnity of St Joseph just might break all the rules for discipleship. Jesus asks to be followed, but here He has effectively hidden Himself from His parents.

What can you place into the Lord's hands today? What can you place into the Lord's hands today?
In today’s Gospel (Matthew 14:13-21), we see Jesus’ compassion toward the crowd and the miracle of the feeding of the five thousand. We are reminded that what seems impossible for humans is possible with God.
God can accomplish great things through our ordinary efforts when we unite everything to Him for His glory.
St. Josemaria reminds us to be little:
“Be very childlike! the more childlike, the better” (Friends of God, no. 147).
As in today’s Gospel, we see a boy who had a little bit of food to give but, in faith, knew the Lord could use it somehow. This small act of faith led to thousands being fed.
This week, offer Jesus your "five loaves and two fish": your work, your family life, your joys, your struggles, or even your weariness. Nothing offered to Christ is ever too small for Him to transform.
