SUNDAY REFLECTION WITH ST. JOSEMARIA In today’s SUNDAY REFLECTION WITH ST. JOSEMARIA
In today’s Gospel (Matthew 13:1–23), Our Lord goes out to sow the seed of His word with extraordinary generosity. Some seed falls on rocky ground, some among thorns, and some on rich soil that bears abundant fruit. Christ is constantly speaking to the heart: through prayer, the sacraments, Scripture, and the quiet duties of ordinary life, but the question is whether we truly allow Him to take root within us.
So often we want holiness without conversion, peace without sacrifice, or faith without perseverance. Yet the saints became saints because they allowed God to cultivate the soil of their souls, even through suffering, hiddenness, and daily fidelity.
St. Josemaria wrote:
“It is a vivid scene. The Divine Sower is also sowing His seed today. The work of salvation is still going on, and Our Lord wants us to share that work. He wants Christians to open to his love all the paths of the earth. He invites us to spread the divine message, by both teaching and example, to the farthest corners of the earth. He asks us, as citizens of both ecclesial and civil society, to be other Christs by fulfilling our duties conscientiously, sanctifying our everyday work and the responsibilities of our particular walk of life” (Christ is Passing By, no. 150).
Today, let us ask Our Lord for a humble and receptive heart, a heart freed from distractions, resentments, and mediocrity, so that His word may bear fruit in our family life, our work, our friendships, and our prayer. May we become good soil where Christ can truly dwell!
