50 Years: “Helping from Heaven” – The Favors of St. Josemaria Escriva

Each year on the feast day of St Josemaria Escriva (June 26th), we especially give thanks to God for all the favors that he has obtained for us—the big and the small, the ordinary and the extraordinary—that have impacted our lives and the lives of everyone around us.

The Holy Mass in the Christian’s Life

To “live” the holy Mass means to pray continually, and to be convinced that, for each one of us, this is a personal meeting with God. We adore him, we praise him, we give thanks to him, we atone for our sins, we are purified, we experience a unity with Christ and with all Christians.

Stories of Intercession: “Coming into the Church”

By The MacDonald Family My family and I were all received into the Catholic Church during this past Easter Vigil, so the celebration of St Josemaria is especially poignant for us this year. My husband was baptized Catholic, but had never received any of the other sacraments. Though we attended various churches over the years, […]

Stories of Intercession: “Don’t Let Your Life Be Barren. Be Useful.”

By J.R. of Independence, KY The story of my friendship with St. Josemaria is most certainly multi-layered and very detailed, however, I will attempt to tell a part of it as succinctly as possible. I could tell many stories of favors I have received because of his prayers on behalf of myself and my family. […]

Stories of Intercession: “Love, Forgive, Persevere, Be Compassionate”

By The Paschall Family St. Josemaria Escriva has been an inspiration in our marriage and family. We learned about Opus Dei when we were newly married and before we had children. Stories of Intercession: “Care for the Neediest Family Member”

By Friends of the St. Josemaria Institute “St. Josemaria has done so much for us that it’s hard to put it in a few words. He has taught us to give more care to the neediest family member and that having a special needs child is a sign of God’s trust. Also to overlook the […]

Join the @stjosemariainst this Lent as we reflect Join the @stjosemariainst this Lent as we reflect on “The Seven Last Words of Christ”—a weekly devotional journey into the love of Jesus revealed from the Cross. Each Friday, we share a short excerpt and a reflection question to guide your prayer and help you enter more deeply into the mystery of Christ’s Passion.
--
FIRST WORD |Luke 23:24
“Father, forgive them; they know not what they do.”
GOSPEL |Luke 23:33-34
“When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him and the criminals there, one on his right, the other on his left. [Then Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.’] They divided his garments by casting lots.”
MEDITATION |Christ is Passing By, no.95
“Christ’s generous self-sacrifice is a challenge to sin. We find it hard to accept the reality of sin, although its existence is undeniable. Sin is the mystery of evil, the inexplicable evil of the creature whose pride leads him to rise up against God. The story is as old as mankind.”
